Happened to run across a nice article today on Ars Technica, which indicates that new Atom CPUs are on their way, which include features like quad cores, up to 2.4 GHz speed, 64-bit support, USB 3.0, Valleyview system-on-a-chip (SOC), DDR3 RAM support (8Gbs max), and Silvermont's out-of-order execution ability all a 22nm chip. This should pave the way nicely for even faster, inexpensive, lower powered servers -- including better baseline desktops, faster laptops/netbooks & more powerful tablets. Hopefully hyper-threading is also part of the deal, but it's not mentioned in the leaked specs.
