New Raspberry Pi Model B Plus

A new Raspberry Pi model has emerged, addressing the single big issue with the previous revisions of its name sake.  The new model is called "Raspberry Pi Model B+", and it's primary advantage is it comes with four USB 2.0 ports.

The Model B+ utilizes much of the same core hardware as its predecessor:

• Broadcom BCM2835 SoC
• 700 MHz Low Power ARM1176JZFS "applications processor"
• VideoCore IV Multimedia Co-Processor
• 512MB of RAM

However the Model B+ incorporates the following changes:

• 2 more USB 2.0 ports
• No composite RCA video connector
• Uses a Micro SD card
• Slightly larger mobo size
• GPIO uses a 2x20 pin layout
• Lower power consumption

With this new revision costing the same the previous model, it's more bang for the buck.  But existing users of the Raspberry Pi platform may have problems with the new GPIO layout with existing daughter-boards they've purchased or created.  Overall this new model a bit of a mixed blessing...

Update: TheRegister published a nice review of the new Raspberry Pi B+; which I think is worth a read.  It outlines the bigger differences between previous revisions & points out several things users may not be aware of when transitioning from older Raspberry Pi B models.
